“Fruit of the Loom” at the Port A Fall Kite Festival

A rare sighting of one of Team KiteLife’s more ridiculous maneuvers, the Fruit of the Loom, at the Port A Fall Kite Festival in Port Aransas, Texas.

The idea is simple enough. Each of our four kites passes through the other kites’ lines, one by one, until we’ve all woven our way through. Then we dock together, separate, and reverse the whole process to untangle ourselves. Easy, right? The name comes from the loom part of weaving ourselves together, and from the underwear we might need to change when it occasionally goes spectacularly wrong. Bonus points for freestyle exits!

Pilots: Scott Weider, Geoff Hutton, Meshelle Sharples and John Barresi, flying Kite Forge Djinn XT kites. Thanks to Shawn Bramlett for the footage.

From the same weekend: our night fly with a giant octopus.
