An avid flier since 1990, John has earned 31 national championships in sport kite competition and has worked hard to share and promote kiting worldwide through team gatherings, educational programs, volunteer roles in various kiting organizations, and as owner and proprietor of KiteLife.com.

Over the past decade he has been highly active on the kite performance scene as a founding member of Team iQuad (retired 2013), leader of three world record mega flies (2010/2013/2019, and through his kite instruction via video tutorials, workshops and private lessons.

John is the head honcho at Kite Forge which offers a variety of kite designs for hard core flying, and he is also one half of the pairs team Windfall, with Meshelle Sharples.
